Va dato atto al Ministro Giancarlo Giorgetti di aver mantenuto la barra dritta sui conti pubblici ed i risultati oggi sono visibili sia nelle valutazioni delle società di rating, sia nello spread, che si attesta a circa 95 punti base tra BTP e Bund tedesco, un livello che non si vedeva da tempo e ben al di sotto della media di lungo periodo (complice anche la recessione in Germania). Questo dimostra in modo chiaro come lo spread elevato degli anni scorsi e i giudizi negativi delle Agenzie non fossero il frutto di complotti ai danni dell’Italia, ma semplicemente l’esito oggettivo di politiche fiscali irresponsabili e di bilanci non credibili.
Rimane inevitabile però porsi una domanda: perché Giorgetti non ha esercitato lo stesso rigore quando, con il Governo Conte 1 sostenuto da Lega (il suo partito) e Cinque Stelle, furono varati due dei provvedimenti più demenziali e perniciosi della storia repubblicana, superati in disastro solo dal Superbonus. E cioè il “Reddito di cittadinanza” e “Quota 100”? Il primo, inutile, anzi dannoso e regressivo, ha assorbito risorse enormi, equivalenti a un paio di ponti sullo Stretto di Messina (con la differenza che i 2 ponti non sono stati costruiti); il secondo, Quota 100, fallimentare sotto ogni profilo, tranne che uno (opposto agli scopi che si prefiggeva): gli italiani hanno dimostrato nei fatti di preferire il lavoro alla rendita, limitando i danni ai conti pensionisti ( pur sempre devastati). Ne abbiamo scritto fino alla noia.
In questo quadro, giunge la notizia che l’ inventore del reddito di cittadinanza, Pasquale Tridico, quello doveva abolire la povertà per decreto, invece di essere incalzato con rigore per chiedergli conto dei danni finanziari e culturali provocati al Paese, venga oggi proposto come candidato Governatore della Calabria. Non da un piccolo gruppo isolato, ma da un “campo largo” che abbraccia gran parte della sinistra. Riproporrà nel suo programma il Reddito di cittadinanza per i calabresi ?
Il rischio è che i cittadini finiscano per seguire un’altra volta un pifferaio magico, lasciandosi trascinare da slogan facili invece che adottare scelte razionali, sia pur nelle diversità di posizionamento politico.

Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti deserves credit for maintaining a steady course on public finances, and the results are now visible both in the rating agencies’ assessments and in the spread, which stands at approximately 95 basis points between Italian government bonds and the German Bund, a level not seen in some time and well below the long-term average (also due to the recession in Germany). This clearly demonstrates that the high spread of recent years and the negative ratings from the Agencies were not the result of conspiracies against Italy, but simply the objective outcome of irresponsible fiscal policies and uncredible budgets.
A question remains inevitable, however: why didn’t Giorgetti exercise the same rigor when, under the Conte I government supported by the League (his party) and the Five Star Movement, two of the most insane and pernicious measures in the history of the Republic were passed, surpassed in disaster only by the Superbonus. Namely, the “Citizen’s Income” and “Quota 100”? The first, useless, even harmful and regressive, absorbed enormous resources, equivalent to a couple of bridges over the Strait of Messina (with the difference that the two bridges were never built); the second, Quota 100, failed in every respect except one (the opposite of its intended goals): Italians have demonstrated in practice that they prefer work to income, limiting the damage to pension accounts (although they were still devastated). In this context, news has arrived that Pasquale Tridico, the inventor of the basic income, who was supposed to abolish poverty by decree, instead of being rigorously pressed to account for the financial and cultural damage he has caused the country, is now being proposed as a candidate for governor of Calabria. Not by a small, isolated group, but by a “broad field” that encompasses much of the left. Will he reintroduce the basic income for Calabrians in his program?
The risk is that citizens will end up following a Pied Piper once again, allowing themselves to be swept away by easy slogans instead of making rational choices, despite their differing political positions.
